{Mohawk} – San Antonio Newborn Photographer

Oh my poor neglected blog.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Why, you ask? Well because I’ve been INUNDATED with beautiful mama’s to be, babies being born, kids growing up and families laughing. I can honestly, whole-heartedly, and without hesitation say that being a photographer, and a newborn photographer at that, is the highlight of my professional adult life.

Don’t get my wrong – my kids & husband – AWESOME. But my job? Well….it just doesn’t feel like a job at all.

Take, for example – this handsome little man. I photographed his gorgeous Mama a few months back (see her maternity session here http://www.photographybymelissar.com/blog/?p=679) At almost two weeks old, he was already a heart-breaker! I didn’t to give him back….he was just so stinkin’ cute!

Here’s a few shots from his session….check out his ‘hawk!!

Just one….San Antonio Newborn Photographer

July 6th, 2010 by admin

There is NOTHING. I repeat – NOTHING – like a newborn.

Their fresh smell, tiny toes, curled fingers and whisps of super soft hair….I love them. Every little bit of them. And being a newborn photographer allows me to meet so many amazing families, and photograph so many beautiful babies….I just wonder every day how I got this lucky? To be able to call what I love, what I am passionate about, my job.

Here is just one from a newborn session this past weekend – isn’t she BEAUTIFUL?!

More to come soon…..

New Life, New Love….San Antonio Maternity Photographer

July 6th, 2010 by admin

I had the joy of having W and her family to the studio last week to capture the end of her second pregnancy. Yes, her second. I know, it looks like she ate a cheeseburger for lunch, not that she has a about-to-be-born baby in there, but I assure you, he is!

As a maternity photographer, I am lucky enough to meet people in and around San Antonio that are all beautiful in their own right. W was no exception to that. A warm, loving smile, and an even warmer embrace with her husband and son, the joy that shines from this family just makes you smile.

W & J, I hope you enjoy this sneak peek and the gallery that follows – I cannot wait to meet the newest member of your adorable family!

A personal post – What Custom Photography is to Me – San Antonio Photographer

June 7th, 2010 by potog

Custom Photography. It’s a phrase thrown about SO much it seems. Lightly, without regard to what CUSTOM truly means.

What does custom photography mean to me? And how do I ensure your experience is a fabulous one?

It means client receives my utmost attention to every single detail. Their vision for the session, paired with mine, is considered, well thought out, and executed with care & precision. From the initial contact, my client is my priority. I happily discuss options for location – not just any old park will do! We discuss visions, investment, but most importantly, we discuss YOU. The client. What are YOU looking to receive from a session – a more traditional feel, or something more carefree, relaxed. Are you looking for indoors, our outdoors? Natural or a more funky urban approach? We’ll discuss what to wear, depending on the location. We’ll discuss how to approach the session. At the time of the session, we’ll have a great time. We’ll talk, we’ll laugh – I want you to feel like you are the only family there is! Because at that time, you are. You will have 110% of my attention. I want you to feel a warm fuzzy feeling from beginning to end! After the session, I will carefully select the photos that represent you & the vision we set for the session. They will be edited to bring out and highlight details, to provide you with family heirlooms. After the gallery is complete, we’ll get together in a comfortable environment. You will watch a slideshow of your gorgeous images, set to music. You will review your proofs and we will discuss wall display options, print options, fine art products and digital collections. When your products arrive, they will be packaged and prepared for you, with special touches to remind you just how much I enjoyed the experience. Why? Because I do! This is my job, sure. But this is also my passion! I thoroughly enjoy meeting each and every client, getting to know personalities and opinions! My business is capturing your life, one click at a time.

When you are looking for a photographer, it’s important to look past the initial investment. Look at their portfolio, see that they are a member of a professional photographer association (such as Professional Photographer’s of America or “PPA”) talk to past clients (if possible), do your research, including reading online reviews such as on Google and other search engines. With fly-by-night businesses running rampant, it’s important to do your homework and ensure that your investment is in a reputable professional registered business. Don’t fall prey to the false claims of those who promise something that seems too good to be true – it likely is. Truly CUSTOM photography is an investment. And for your investment, you will receive an experience, not just a photo session. You will receive heirlooms, treasures to last a lifetime.

I look forward to meeting you, and making you feel like a star!

Miss A – happy half birthday! San Antonio Baby Photographer

May 26th, 2010 by potog

Miss A…it’s been a while! Last December I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Miss A for her newborn session, and capturing one of my all time favorite images EVER. And now, here she is again – growing like a weed (and if you live in Texas, you know our weeds can GROW!). I had a great time at this session, shooting in a new location that I can’t wait to use again!!

E & J, I hope you love the sneak peek – can’t wait to show you the rest!

Firefighter in the making! J's newborn sneak peek – San Antonio Newborn Photographer

May 25th, 2010 by potog

When J & C came to me for C’s maternity photos, we naturally got to talking about careers and whatnot and when it came out that J was a firefighter I not so secretly was happy to hear that. See, for quite a while now, I have wanted to do a particular firefighter themed setup. Badly. And J & C were all too happy to accommodate me. Without further adieu I present to you little man J – a firefighter in the making!

Enjoy the sneak peek!

Hope you enjoy the sneak peek guys – I can’t wait to meet the little one!!

Lil’ Slugger…T’s Newborn Sneak Peek – San Antonio Newborn Photographer

May 24th, 2010 by potog

When T & V came with this lil’ man for his newborn portraits, one of the first things I noticed was his long fingers (we all know I love me some little baby parts…toes, fingers, lips…I’m partial to them all!). So, of course I mention he may be musically inclined when he grows up – and of course, Dad mentions he could be an athlete as well. Now, in case you don’t know, I am a big baseball fan. And I happen to have a particular affection for pitchers & catchers (I myself was a catcher when I played as a kid) – but I digress. Without further adieu, I have to introduce Lil’ Slugger. I am in love! T & V, I can’t thank you enough for choosing me to be your photographer. What a pleasure it’s been getting to know you! I can’t wait to see Lil Slugger grow to be the next Babe Ruth…or Nolan Ryan….ah, I digress again. Enjoy the sneak peek!

Almost time….San Antonio Maternity Photographer

May 20th, 2010 by potog

There are some people who just light up a room when they walk in. E is one of those people…friendly smile, kind eyes and a gentle nature just make you want to be friends with her. She came to the studio for a few last minute maternity portraits before her little man makes his arrival. E and family, I hope you enjoy this sneak peek and I can’t wait to meet your little guy when he makes his arrival!
